Martin Margiela, né en 1959 à Louvain, est un créateur belge diplômé de l’Académie des beaux-arts d’Anvers. Assistant de Jean Paul Gaultier pendant 4 ans, il lance sa propre griffe en 1988. Pendant vingt ans, des collections printemps-été 1989 au printemps-été 2009, ses créations questionnent la mode, son système et la structure du vêtement.
Martin Margiela, born in 1959 in Leuven, is a Belgian designer who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He was Jean Paul Gaultier’s assistant for four years before launching his own label in 1988. For twenty years, from the spring-summer 1989 to spring-summer 2009 collections, his creations questioned fashion, its system and the structure of clothing.
